In all honesty, a show as excellent as Frieda will see you now deserves all the praise it could have heaped upon it. So I am dedicating the second half of my resume to direct quotes they can use on the poster and advertising. If they so choose, which I hope they do, Frieda will see you now is just simply that excellent. Every once in a while, you see a show that reminds you of a different kind of performance done masterfully well. Like watching the best ballet or burlesque show, it fills you with a special kind of hope that maybe this is the point of life. To watch people perform high-quality content, and you can either witness it as an audience member or get involved yourself. We all have something substantial to say, even if the message isn’t blisteringly obvious; you can still be taken on the ride, experience something amazing, and maybe grow from the experience. I know for a fact I grew a little bit just from watching Frieda will see you now, and I hope you will too.

I would describe Frieda will see you now as a clever and subtle blend of different theatrical stylings: Italian Commedia dell’Arte, the Irish playwright Beckett’s existentialism, British pantomime, and even a dash of American vaudeville. In lesser works, this blending dilutes the core intensity of the overall piece. It became chaotic and frenetic. In Frieda will see you now, it works fantastically well in a space like the Motley Bauhaus; the whole work feels intimate and so, so inviting.

Despite the moments of audience interaction and improvisation throughout the whole show, the piece felt like a constantly evolving organism rather than a static piece of performance. There was no twist or turn that felt out of character or uncharacteristic of the show we watched.

I don’t want to spoil how delightfully charming the show is or how cleverly simple the character is. Other than to say I found no faults in the slightest. It is very close to being the best it could possibly be. So the rest of my review is just me raving about the show.

I adored every moment of this really great show!

The tightest and most surreal bit of comedy I have seen at this festival!

The whole show is effortlessly charming.

It looks like a lot, but if you think you will enjoy it, you most certainly will!

With chaotic and absurd energy all the way through, Frieda Will See You Now is destined to become a cult favourite.

Original, bold, and fearlessly clever.

This comedy is what you didn’t know you needed to see.
