TABLE SCRAPS

Some of the best conversations happen around a dinner table. The ones that start somewhere polite and end up somewhere you didn't expect. Where someone says the thing nobody else was going to say, and suddenly everyone's leaning in. Table Scraps brings the tension: four guests, selected specifically because they don't see the world the same way, seated together and asked to talk it out. Hosted by Dylan Bird, Table Scraps is a live discussion show staged as an intimate dinner party where conversation is the main course. A long table. A menu of topics designed to provoke, unsettle, and occasionally delight. Each show unfolds across courses: an Entrée to warm the table, a Main Course where the real argument lives, a Side Dish that shifts the angle, and a Dessert worth savouring. After a short break, the audience feeds the final act, submitting topics that become Coffee & Port, the loosest, most unpredictable part of the evening. The guests aren't here to agree. They're here because they don't.

First guests announced: Jordan Van Den Lamb (Purple Pingers, Victorian Socialists)
Jacob Caine (President, REIV)
Dr. Kate Raynor (Fellow of Per Capita's Centre for Equitable Housing, Director of Social Value at One Engage.)
Katie Roberts-Hull (Secretary of Yes In My Backyard)
Dylan Bird (3RRR's Future Perfect) is at the head of the table as the moderator.

This is definitely a magic and mentalism show. It is not a covert operation. Any “classified files” are props. Any “agents” are audience volunteers. Any impossibly accurate predictions are… um… stagecraft. Pure mentalism. It’s just your typical comedic noir magic show, packed with capers, laughs, twists, and totally non-suspicious mind games. Not a femme fatale spy on a top-secret mission that innocent bystanders might incidentally be drawn into.

Direct from Hollywood MAGICAL KATRINA is a globe-trotting female magician, mentalist, and speaker who brings theatrical flair, sharp intelligence, and interactive charm to every performance. Her signature style is a mix of drama, mystery, poise, and whimsy -backed by serious business chops and a love for connection.

She has performed in over 20 countries, toured with the stage show Champions of Magic, and appeared on TV shows such as Masters of Illusion, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, and the kids show Blippi. She recently starred alongside Chappell Roan in her music video Red Wine Supernova, and has performed for world-class clients and events including Formula 1, The Olympics, Porsche, Prada, and Ritz-Carlton.

Shows (Bronze Membership)
08/07/2026 9.00pm | Price $16.50 ea. | Book Tickets
09/07/2026 9.00pm | Price $16.50 ea. | Book Tickets

Arrow on Swanston
488 Swanston St
Carlton, Victoria
3053
Australia

THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES

Jeff Goode’s play premiered in 1994 and was staged worldwide since. It is NOT your commonly nice and cosy Christmas story but a quite dark look into Santa’s world – or what traditional storytelling pertaining to the ‘festive season’ since Santa took over made us believe it is.

The reason why revealing this ‘backstage’ report by the pack of well-known reindeer to an audience now is because the core of the story and the responses of the protagonists to ‘the incident’ have not changed at all; on the contrary. 32 years later, in a world that undoubtedly has progressed significantly, and the social and political fabric may have changed, people’s attitudes haven’t.

The beloved Australian institution Christmas in July 2026 is the fitting time and place to talk about some rumours regarding Santa Clause, Mrs Clause, the elves, what happened to Rudolph and with other reindeer of the pack.

It is about Santa’s toy workshop, about Santa’s gift delivery service, about Santa’s counselling service to those little boys and girls out there... about Santa the seemingly untouchable representative of ‘good deeds’ in the world, the omnipotent ‘Boss’ of a well-oiled machine in the corporate entertainment industry.

We aren’t really telling stories of an imaginary Santa, but of real people who sit in a place of power and use that power not only to satisfy business purposes. The reindeer who spill the beans here are all witnesses of what happened in the toy workshop... one after the other representing a segment of society and commenting from their more or less egotistical personal point of view, perception and judgment. Like in real life, nothing fictional.

And there will be Christmas again in December 2026.
REALISED By J. JAMES-MOODY
30 June – 25 July 2026

WORLD PREMIERE

“And we danced, on the brink of an unknown future, to an echo from a vanished past…”

London, 1951: In an attempt to solve the world’s energy crisis, scientists engineer the Triffids: a biofuel crop that is highly efficient, strangely sentient, and disturbingly carnivorous.

When a freak cosmic event blinds most of the world’s population, one man wakes into a collapsing society where fear, opportunism, and chaos reign. As humans struggle to survive, an unexpected predator rises. Free from observation, the Triffids begin their ascent.

The beast is loose.

Adapted from John Wyndham’s iconic catastrophe novel, The Day of the Triffids erupts into vivid, immersive reality in this bold new theatrical experience by J. James-Moody.

“Consummate storyteller Jay James-Moody takes us to the farthest reaches of what theatrical magic can achieve.” Suzy Goes See

Please note: this production will contain bursts of bright light and extreme sound amplification.
