TWO
Jim Cartwright's Two is a poignant, humorous play set in a working-class pub, featuring only two actors who play all fourteen characters, focusing on the Landlord and Landlady's strained marriage as they serve a parade of lonely, lustful, and struggling locals, revealing universal tales of love, loss, and hope against a backdrop of bitter-sweet realism. The play masterfully shifts from comedy to deep pathos as the Landlord and Landlady's own unresolved issues with infidelity, aging, and discontent surface, culminating in a cathartic moment as they finally confront their relationship.
Feedback/Comments
The two actors are amazing in this production - I cannot get over how quickly they would exit the stage, then reappear almost immediately dressed in a new outfit and having become a new character entirely. The snippets of these characters’ lives we saw leave you reflecting on human relationships after the curtain falls.
I loved the set too - Just like an
English pub!
Great performance on a lovely set! Recommend.
