The perfect date, experience one of the greatest romantic films of all time on the big screen with a live symphony orchestra. Brief Encounter brought to fame Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2 with its lush emotional landscape.
David Lean’s iconic film traces the affair of a married doctor and suburban housewife who meet on a train platform. They inadvertently but quickly progress to an emotional love affair, which brings about unexpected consequences. “There was not a dry eye in the house, not least because of the eye-watering beauty of having the score freshly created in front of us as the movie rolled.”
Pianist and orchestra were amazing . Dialogue of movie was difficult to hear at many times. Given the audience was mostly elderly people (i attended with elderly mother) who may have hearing issues at the best off times, i think having subtitles on the movie would have been really helpful. Can then enjoy the powerful music without missing any of the movie dialogue
