Shakespeare in Hollywood

Shakespeare in Hollywood

Prepare for a whirlwind of comedy, chaos, and Shakespearean magic in Tony Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig’s acclaimed Shakespeare in Hollywood! This dazzling screwball comedy blends witty dialogue, fast-paced humor, and a touch of the supernatural, delivering a hilarious love letter to both Shakespeare and classic Hollywood.

It’s 1934, and Shakespeare’s mischievous fairies, Oberon and Puck, find themselves mysteriously transported to the Warner Bros. set of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Seduced by the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown, the duo land roles in the film—playing none other than themselves! What follows is a madcap romp full of mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and showbiz antics.

Don’t miss this enchanting celebration of wit, charm, and theatrical magic—where Shakespeare meets the silver screen in the most delightful way!

Such a great (belated!) introduction to Shakespeare.
Funny and relatable - not always applicable to the bard.

A most enjoyable evening at the theatre. Very funny, and the cast was great.

A very enjoyable night out all around & the warming hot chocolate & biscuits available in the foyer made for a lovely cosy & enjoyable night. There were plenty of laughs & even my nineteen year old daughter, who felt slightly out of place to begin with due to the predominant demographic, really enjoyed the performance & had a good time.

The plot merges the magic world of Midsummer’s forest with the 1930’s Hollywood movie production in a funny satirical way with great use of many quotes from Shakespeare’s other plays. A background of the actors in the real movie helps to put the characters in place. Oberon and Puck keep it light, with good support from the rest of the cast.

What a surprise. Lots of laughter. If you know SHAKESPEARE you will get even more out of it.
