Fresh from rapturously received Sydney and Melbourne seasons, MARVELous The Show is soaring into Adelaide for a strictly limited season, running from 26 February to 10 March at Gluttony as part of Adelaide Fringe Festival.
With a rock-infused soundtrack, a breathtaking stage design, and a cast of exceptional acrobats, vocalists, dancers and high-flying aerialists, MARVELous The Show is a dynamic blend of parody, hilarity and impressive live performances – all delivered with a satiric and risqué edge.
The production showcases well known and loved superheroes including Thor, Black Widow, Deadpool, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Iron Man and more as they’ve never been seen before, in outrageous and unexpected subversions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
MARVELous The Show is also packed with pop culture easter eggs and is heavily woven with references to beloved films like Dirty Dancing, Magic Mike, Flashdance and The Greatest Showman, providing a little something for everyone.
Award-winning designer Dan Potra (Sweeney Todd at Southbank London, La Boheme on the Harbour for Opera Australia, The Barber Of Seville for Houston Grand Opera) has created an extraordinary stage design to complement the many wild skills on display, with lighting design by James Wallis (Hayes Theatre’s recent productions of City of Angels and Bonnie & Clyde) and choreography by Luka Lea-Vestic.
MARVELous co-creator and director, Samwise Holmes says ‘MARVELous is a production we’ve been building for five years. We wanted to create a show that was unexpectedly spectacular, and I think we’ve achieved that.

Good mix of comedy, choreography, superhero themes and movies blended with great music, routines & acrobatics. Incredible music. Admittedly I didn’t know every single reference but it was highly entertaining and skilful all the same. The performers really gave it all and left everything on the stage. My favourite part was the fight/dance scene, brilliant!

Wasn't sure what to expect, but the show was absolutely awesome!
Quirky, some laughs, acrobatic skills not as skilled as other shows we have seen at the Fringe. Captain America and Bucky scene the best. More strip teasing than I expected for this particular show so got a bit bored.
Loud and brash, but not quite what I was expecting from a "parody", perhaps because I'm not familiar enough with the Marvel universe to pick up on "in jokes". The dancing and singing were good, but not at the level of recent cabaret and musicals I seen.
While I completely missed the 'striptease' nature of this show in the description, the show was quite impressive. The inhouse jokes concerning Marvel and pop culture were very clever and the fact that the performers sang, danced, did acrobatics, fought, acted, and told a hilarious story meant that the nudity wasn't actually the focus or even really needed. It worked without it. It only loses a star because of the loss of audio in places and the fact that the stage being elevated banged quite loudly when people landed.
A great energetic show that takes the piss out of the Marvel universe brilliantly :) Only loses a star because the audio quality during the show was a bit poor in places (either mics weren't on properly or it was hard to hear what the performers were saying / singing).
We all had a great time watching the show! The cast was impressive - each actor had a distinct character. Captain America’s extroverted energy stood out, and Deadpool was hilarious. The humor and timely references kept the audience engaged.
Production quality was solid. Great sound and lighting effects, strong vocals. The choreography was outstanding, especially appreciated by a guest with a dance background.
