Marooned

Marooned

This play has been performed all over Victoria and for The Australian Army. The Army psychologist called it a revolution in suicide prevention. .

Leave any preconceptions at the door and instead expect to be profoundly moved as Marooned might just be one of Australia’s most important plays. Not because it questions why so many of us take our own lives too soon, but in the way, through a mix of raw powerful drama, clever dialogue and humour, it uses the secrets of four ordinary people to explore this baffling question, and yet manages, night after night, to lift your spirits and leave audiences not only hungry to live but celebrating the resilient beauty of humanity.

In 2022 the Institute of Psychoanalysis used a filmed reading of Marooned for an event, Psychoanalysis and Mental Health/Marooned in a collaboration with National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Ten Windsor Walk. They now have funding to use this film as a teaching tool for their medical students.

Jthe actors were great. I think alot of people dont know how to address it, and the signs of depressing..

Sam

The topic is worth investigating through a theatrical play. The acting can be improved.

Dana

Touching and thought provoking

Emily

Very touching performance and good script.

Reetz

Cleverly put together and good acting, l was engaged throughout, although the subject matter was a sad event that happens far too much and not talked about. Well done.

Fantastic performance that tackles hard hitting issues in a highly thought provoking manner. Suicide themes may be triggering for some, however created some great discussion with the 14 year old that attended with me.

SIDNEY HO

interesting but not my cup of tea

Great performances. Minimal stage props (loved the clouds video though). Assumption was that all those who attempt suicide would regret their actions and try to get another chance. Could be a bit triggering for anyone who has contemplated/attempted suicide. Oh and Paul Kelly was in the audience :)

The play was entertaining yet had a lot of depth. We thoroughly enjoyed it

eggie

Very one dimensional type cast characters without the complexities the themes of the content deserved.

MartyJ

Thought provoking. Reasonably simple in its delivery of it's core message of mental health. Interesting twist at the end to remind us that while some can be saved, others are not so fortunate.

shellz

Very moving play. It really brought to the forefront why some people might suicide.
