Between the Curtains

Between the Curtains

A poignant and uplifting show about hospital life through the eyes of a chronically ill patient.

Follow the wacky journey of one woman as she dances with the hospital system for more than two decades to become a self-proclaimed professional patient. In this unique (maybe a little absurd) comedic celebration of hospital life, Anita shares stories about friendships made, friends lost, and the angels that kept her alive. The show will have you falling in love with hospitals and catheters.

This is a must-see performance for anyone in the medical field. During her Adelaide Fringe season, Anita laughed with nurses, hugged fellow professional patients and answered the unspeakable questions of surgeons and medical professionals.

A entertaining portrayal of the ups & downs of hospital life, through the eyes of the patient, whilst dealing with uncomfortable subjects, painful procedures & stereotypical hospital staff. Well acted with feeling, humour and positivity.

A humorous portrayal of a lifelong passion for life, seen through the eyes of the main protagonist (and passionately played by the main protagonist as well), adding along the way the very many views of those caring for and about us all: the nurses, doctors, cleaners, chefs, children, family, friends,...

This is a story of love for others, hope, struggle, humour as our first and last defence, survival, finding paths when all seems lost, when befriending even inanimate objects such various medical apparatuses and assistive technologies becomes "quite normal", finding love for self and allowing self to express instead of hiding behind being there for others first and always, and it is about one woman who battles through life with the cards she was dealt with, and it's about any or every young or middle or sunsetting period of life and very real situations most people will experience or witness sometime across lifespan.

Life is a battle, and this theatrical play is about life that is won by one vulnerable human being from her tender young age to present day and future, told through the lenses of humour,.comedy, satire, love, philosophy, and, of course, medicine,.healthcare, and compassion.

In addition, this show would be great to feature in hospitals as well, retirement villages, and similar environments, as the show's messages resonate with a broad spectrum of experiences of those who struggled, offering understanding through lived experience.

The show rises hope and brings smile to people's minds and hearts.

Very well investing interest and support into this (as of this writing young, but lived through the author's lifetime) theatrical piece or art.
