Jeromaia Detto is an award winning artist who has been training and performing across the globe for a decade. He specialises in clowning and improv with a unique style that focuses on play, spontaneity and collaboration, creating memorable characters and moments for audiences of all ages..
Internationally he has trained at the iO Theatre in Chicago, with the Norway Clown Camp and is a graduate of Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France. He also teaches improv and clown across the globe facilitating workshops for school kids, adults, theatre groups and various NGOs. The importance of play was reinforced for Jeromaia while he spent 2 years in France studying clown and theatre with the master of freedom and play, Philippe Gaulier. This underpins his drive to create positive performance spaces where crowds are encouraged to engage and join the fun, being involved in each story as it unfolds as they unlock their inner child.
When I Grow Up... is an all-in hour of silliness and collaborative imaginative play that inspires audiences to connect with their childhood and re-discover the sense of play they once had. Throughout the show, Jeromaia is trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up, hoping to finally make his mum proud. As an audience member you are are invited to note down what youwanted to be when you grow up. Did you want to be a doctor? A florist? Maybe a professional jumper, who jumps up and down really skillfully. Maybe you wanted to be a horse! Audiences are invited to write down and share what they wanted to be when they grew up. Whatever it is, whatever the dream, award-winning clown and expert in play, Jeromala Detto, will bring it to life with a chest full of costumes and a heart full of imagination!
Acting and concept was good but a few uncomfortable and inappropriate moments which were upsetting and ubsettling.
