1950s Latin Big Band dance night with MUCHO MAMBO

1950s Latin Big Band dance night with MUCHO MAMBO

A celebration of the golden era of Latin music in the 1950s & 1960s

Explosive 13 piece Sydney based Latin big band Mucho Mambo will recreate the famous New York ‘Palladium’ ballroom with two big sets of Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Conga and Bolero.

Known as “the home of the mambo,” the Palladium Ballroom in New York was the most important venue for Latin music and dance throughout the 1950s & 60s.

The Mucho Mambo experience is one of a kind in the music world, a truly authentic and timeless Latin Big Band that transports the audience back to the golden era of Latin and Jazz genres in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Dig out your frills, ruffles and puffy sleeves and be transported to New York and Havana in the 1950s for a huge event not to be missed!

Featuring Australia's best Latin and Jazz musicians, Mucho Mambo’s powerhouse dynamic and distinctive sound blends bold, brassy riffs and driving percussion with big band arrangements and cool old-style Latin grooves.

The orchestra’s world-class arrangements are influenced by those of the classic orchestras of the 1950's in Cuba and New York and fuse Latin rhythms; Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Conga and Bolero with Jazz harmonies and orchestration; reinventing them with a unique funky modern edge.

“A dynamic Latin musical & visual spectacle not to be missed, a world-class orchestra & performance“

"For many years Sydney's Mucho Mambo has been creating sounds inspired by the supple dance grooves of Cuba's Latin-Jazz orchestras from the 1950s and '60s. The music is played with flawless conviction and great panache. This was delightful music in its heyday and sounds like it was invented yesterday when played by Mucho Mambo" Sydney Morning Herald Metro

“One could consider the music of Mucho Mambo in a number of different ways - cultural, social, historical - but most of all, it's quite simply a lot of fun. When the band hits its stride, I defy anyone to remain motionless. Mucho Mambo has something for your head and something for your feet.” Music Forum magazine
