THE TASTE OF THINGS

THE TASTE OF THINGS

IN CINEMAS MAY 2
One of the most acclaimed French films of recent times starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel and directed by Tran Anh Hung, THE TASTE OF THINGS is a sensual ode to haute cuisine. In 1885, Eugenie, a peerless cook, has spent two decades working for the renowned gourmet Dodin, evolving their gastronomic partnership into a romantic bond. Their culinary creations astonish even the most esteemed chefs, yet Eugenie cherishes her independence and resists Dodin's desire for marriage. In a poignant gesture, Dodin strives to express his love through the intimate act of cooking a meal for her, a move that signifies a departure from his usual role in their relationship.

A very unique film, all about food, even the conversations were educational about the culinary arts. Better than Masterchef :p

Visually beautiful, well acted but often slow.

Beautiful movie. The food scenes were plentiful and beautifully captured. Subtle actions and dialogue spoke a thousand words. Highly recommended.

Simple and beautiful movie, you almost can smell and taste the food scenes. Absolutely recommended.

Like a slow cooker this film delivered a tender feast. Really nice lead actors revelled with their co-star, the food and wine.
The simple following of people quietly preparing an, admittedly gastronomically intense, meal at the start of the film was engrossing. No need for a narrator on a sugar high calling it like a horse race or screaming the state of the countdown to make it interesting. This set the tone of the film.
Beautiful cinematography enveloped you in the feel and sense of season being presented.
A nice gentle tale, easily watched.
