Featuring
Mikelangelo and the Tin Star
Rufino and the Wreckage
Maquina Peligrosa
The Knave (DJ)
Brunswick Beach Party is back for it’s second year, featuring a one-off reunion show from surf’n’western legends Mikelangelo and the Tin Star, the tropical noir stylings of Sydney’s Rufino and the Wreckage, and a set from Melbourne underground surf garage trash trio Maquina Peligrosa, with The Knave keeping the urban beach good times going on the decks.
It’s been ten years since Mikelangelo and the Tin Star laid down their guns at the Corner Hotel, leaving a swathe of sad fans in their wake. After going their own ways with other projects, the group spontaneously got back together to play a short live set for a sold out crowd at the infamous Polish White Eagle Club in Canberra in July 2023. It felt so good, they thought that Melbourne deserved a show too. The band will play their album - The Surf’n’Western Sounds Of Mikelangelo and the Tin Star - in full, as well as some unrecorded classics from their live repertoire, and a couple of new tunes for good measure.
Rufino returns with not just a few Coconuts - but a full Wreckage in tow! Playing songs old and new, plus a few to surprise you, this is the classic show you’d expect from Rufino and crew peppered with some new twists and turns. Let Rufino and the Wreckage take you on a wild journey from the hot tropics to the dark heart of the city jungle, all driven by some of the greatest grooves and stomps this, or any other side, of the Equator.
And what about the band: The Wreckage, as always, the finest selection of ne’er do wells, vagabonds and cutthroats you ever likely to meet – and boy, oh boy, can they play. All your favourite old Coconuts and some fresh sounds and faces as well.
A tradition in the making, the first Brunswick Beach Party was in January 2023 was an absolute treat, and this year the waves will be higher, the sand will be hotter, the tunes more intoxicating, with special guests and surprises to be unveiled at the show. This year we’ve made it an early start, 3.30pm doors, 4pm show, so bring the family along, kids and grandparents welcome, just like any great beach party.

Great performances. Unfortunately it was way too loud.
