American-born Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto burst onto the scene with her warm, electronica fused debut in 2000 with “Tanto Tempo”. Since then, she has expanded her musical ranges, drawing on jazz, soul and pop traditions yet never forgetting her Brazilian roots. She has received a MOBO Award in the UK and was nominated for a World Music Grammy.
Bebel is the daughter of João Gilberto, the famed bossa nova king and singer Miúcha and she has been performing since her youth in Rio de Janeiro. Bebel’s smooth-as-honey touch to her singing has made her the queen of contemporary Brazilian beats for nearly a decade.
Time spent in Jamaica, a new marriage and a deal with Verve were the driving factors for her latest album “All In One” released in September 2009.
This album conjures the classic bossa nova sound that's clearly in Bebel's blood, and continues her winning combination of samba and bossa with pop, jazz and electronic that has become her trademark.
