The Australian Ballet and GWB Entertainment are delighted to present a National Tour of the rapturous Broadway musical An American in Paris.
Hailed as a tour de force for its stunning choreography, the four-time Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical tells the entrancing story of a young American soldier and a beautiful French girl, set against the iconic backdrop of the most romantic city in the world.
Amazing spectacular performance with great singers and dancers

Incredible!!
Enjoyable fun and uplifting. Thoroughly recommend it. Everyone played their role with passion.
Amazing show!
First half was slow but got good in the second.
Excellent shows, love it so much. What a great production
Absolutely loved it. Could not fault it in any way. Best thing we've seen in a long time.
Beautiful production! Recommended
absolutely amazing!!!!
Loved it! 5 star
Amazing
Brilliant
Outstanding performance. High energy and excellent choreography.
A really fun show. Beautiful stage design.
Amazing performance I had so much fun
Brilliant show - the dance was next-level and the acting and vocals were spot-on! Get a ticket ASAP!
Lovely show ruined by others around me. The smell of raw sushi, crunching and rustling of oversized bags of chips combined with the constant conversations and people walking in and out made for a rather average evening.
Very polished musical. Costumes were dazzling, dancing superb, vocals strong. Story was well told.
Brilliant performance
Very enjoyable show - loved the music, singing and dancing - very entertaining!
‘Swonderful…
‘Smarvellous…
This is a show you must MUST see!!!
#griffostagereview of An American In Paris by Justine and Darcy.
Last year I was beyond excited when GWB & Aussie Ballet announced a joint production and that these two original stars were coming out to be in it.Being able to see Robbie Fairchild and Leanne Cope on an Australian stage!
Virtually every single member of the cast is a technically trained dancer and boy can you tell!!! In fact five of them are from the Australian Ballet Company. So you can imagine the level of technique in the show. It is just perfect to watch and see gorgeous lifts, turns, extensions, lines, turn out, FEET!
How brilliant to see ballet - REAL BALLET - in a musical on a contemporary stage. The choreography (by Christoper Wheeldon) is insane. It tells the story perfectly. There’s sorrow, joy, passion, terror - using both traditional and contemporary dance, add to that remarkable acting and voices!
The costumes are truly beautiful. The show is such a great nod to the original Silver Screen show with Gene Kelly.
You won’t realise the songs that you know that are in it!! Gershwin classics!! “I Got Rhythm”, “‘S Wonderful”, “ They Can’t Take That Away From Me”, “I’ll Build a Stairway to Paradise” - all songs we have heard in concerts and eisteddfods and shows over the years!
The crowd is LOUD. Not loud as in inappropriate but truly appreciative of what they’re watching. They cheer at the end of the big numbers, they laugh at the jokes, they bop their heads when a familiar piece of music comes on and they give a standing ovation at the end.
If you enjoy musicals then of course you’re gonna love it.
BUT, if you’re looking for a show to take your young dancers to - THIS IS THE ONE. If you’ve got a young male dancer, they NEED to see this show, they need to see these incredible men, doing incredibly masculine dance that is ballet.
If you’ve got a mum or nanna who loves Gene Kelly or any of the old musicals - this is present for them. You can bet your bottom dollar that they’ll start singing along when ‘S Wonderful comes on (tell them to shush if they do!!)
Of if you’d just like a great night out at the theatre - choose this!! Honestly, CHOOSE THIS! You won’t see this level of production in Australia very often, so grab the opportunity now!
Be aware that the tickets in the stalls at Theatre Royal are not very access friendly. There are steps - quite a significant amount. The disabled seating is at the top of the dress circle. Still a good view but a long way away.
Absolutely amazing production.
Excellent show, amazing dancing and singing and great costumes and sets
Incredible show, was very excited to see it offered with On The House
energetic and very entertaining
Absolutely fabulous show! I could see it again. The dancing, costumes and music were fantastic!
Fantastic production. The actors who played Jerry and Adam were amazing performers and singers. The supporting cast really gave the show life as they seemlessly constructed each set in front of our eyes. Would definitely see future productions from this group.
An amazing show. Musical ballet production with great sets and over the top costumes. A must see!
Spectacular production with great dancing, costumes and performances! The fusion of ballet and musical was seamless and brought it to the next level! Brilliant music as well
The gorgeous music by George and Ira Gershwin is accompanied by ballet and spectacle. As beautiful as the movement and costumes are, I was mesmerized by the sets and it made me really want to go back to Paris and wander those streets. The audience cheered, laughed, and applauded with vigor so it's safe to say we all were delighted with the production. It really is a production with something for everyone - young kids to fans of the film...
What a wonderfull show.. lots of Broadway tunes that will have you humming all night.. highly recommend
It was an amazing show. Loved the dancing, singing, music, costumes, and digital backgrounds.
Visually, and musically stunning. The dancers and choreography and sets were unbelievable. Not a dull minute! Very feel good.
I was always going to see this show because I love Gershwin's music. It's played live and sounds wonderful .
My husband was a bit wary when I said the Australian Ballet, but he came away adoring it!
It's a musical but with amazing dancing and spectacular scene changes that seem quite magical. The performance by the young American GI was strong in both vocals and a most virtuoso dance segment toward the end.
Would love to see it again!
Brilliant! The dance involved tap, ballet, and martha Stewart modern. The singing exceptional! Storyline full of emotion. There was no holding back on thus it was brilliantly performed by the entire cast. Not to be missed.
Enjoyable evening
Very enjoyable
That was a spectacular show. We attended the first Matinee in Sydney and enjoyed every minute. An American In Paris was one of my favourite movies from the 50-60s and the stage production measured up well. The dancing was spectacular. The allocated seats in the Circle provided an excellent view of the stage. Thank you so much for the opportunity ... I'll most certainly be recommending An American In Paris to all and sundry and have already told my friends they must sign up to On The House. I'll be back!
Blown away by this show! Loved it so much bought tickets for a family member to see it in her birthday !
Very enjoyable from start to finish. Not my usual musical genre but I was quickly impressed with what I saw earlier tonight. Ballet is not my usual interest but the dancing made total sense in the context of the show. Five stars for me!
Beautifully performed.
Wow! What an amazing show. The dancing, vocals , music and costumes were amazing. The stage set are stunning and the mixture of classic settings with digital backdrops really made the show. I would highly recommend an American in Paris, well done cast and crew for making such a fun and heart warming evening!
Absolutely wonderful. Brilliant vocals, exquisite dance numbers and superb staging. Loved it
The opening show was spectacular. We loved the singing, dancing, costumes, and the artworks in the background.
Highly recommended.
We were privileged to see this show, An American in Paris, last Friday night. The venue was packed. The evening was full of theatrical surprise from the digitalised backdrop that kept morphing into different scenes of Paris. So real where the graphics that the illusion they created felt completely real. We were in Paris this evening! It was just after WW2 and the music was Gershwin. Australian Ballet were outstanding in their ability to be graceful, light on their feet and also dance to jazz music. This is something I have never seen the Australian Ballet do before and it was absolutely stunning. The voices, the dancing, the costumes were completely unforgettable. I am recommending this show like crazy to all my friends. No one should miss this!
