Described by the New York Times as ‘a pianist with dazzling power and an impeccable sense of style’, US-born Juilliard graduate Elyane Laussade is now firmly established as one of Australia’s finest pianists.
This attractive program of romantic favourites such as Chopin’s Scherzo in B-flat minor, Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and Rachmaninov’s Elegie has as its centrepiece Schubert’s final piano sonata.

How very fortunate we are to have such a world class musician in our midst! This was a stunning performance of great virtuosity given in an intimate setting. Every movement of her fingers was visible. What a pity that this was a one-off performance as I'd be encouraging others to attend if there were to be further performances. Any opportunity to listen to performances by this wonderful musician should be taken up immediately. Any performances should be widely publicised. Her knowledge of music history was used to introduce each piece in ways that enabled less informed listeners a route into understanding what they were about to listen to. Her Chopin encore was deeply moving. An event that one might have missed had it not been publicised via On the House.
Extraordinary performance - thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable. The encore piece, a Chopin "nocturne", was one of many highlights.
