Inspired by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra's 1996 Split Enz collaboration EnzSO, this 21st anniversary event is another evolutionary moment in the history of an iconic repertoire of hits including I See Red, Six Months in a Leaky Boat and Message to My Girl.
The original Split Enz keyboardist leads an 'ENZEMBLE' incorporating a rock band, brass and string sections and guest vocalists Rima Te Wiata (Hunt For The Wilderpeople), Rikki Morris and Phil Madsen in this rock concert come instrumental extravaganza that will be beautiful, grand and sumptuous.
About Eddie Rayner
Eddie Rayner's unique keyboard sounds, arrangements and playing style was a trademark of the Split Enz sound, helping to enshrine the band as one of New Zealand’s most successful ever. Following the disbanding of Split Enz in 1985, Rayner went on to play keyboards for Crowded House and Paul McCartney, and in the 90s he conceived, arranged and produced the highly acclaimed and successful EnzSO project, which spawned a multi-platinum album and highly successful national tours across Australia and NZ. Now an acclaimed music producer, Rayner has continued to collaborate with artists locally and abroad on a range of projects, as well as being Music Director on TV show NZ Idol.

Some parts were great, some were obscure or unrecognizable and the momentum with the audience was lost. For the most part it was enjoyable.
Hamer hall is wonderful and so was Eddie. Absolutely loved every minute.

It was a excellent performance, with a variety of classic rock hits from the band Split Enz. The seats were excellent with uninterrupted views of the stage. Eddie was supported by a talented Orchestra and support singers. I would happily recommend this performance to others.

So much fun to revisit and sing along to old favourites. Would have preferred less chatter to distract from Eddie's dynamic keyboard gymnastics and slow the pace of the expansive talent supporting him. Band was tight and the drummer held it all together brilliantly. Thank you OTH and arts Centre for the opportunity to see these great artists.

An interesting expose of human behaviour. The singing and music were superb but the performance seemed a little frenetic near the end much like a relationship that has to end because the end has come. RIP Split Enz.
Bit disappointing, probably would have been better when he did this the first time in Australia with the full orchestra. It seemed like a bit of a Friday night at the pub transposed to Hamer Hall with a smattering of classical musicians to fill out the sound.
Prog rock to its finest.

Brilliant excellent show
I loved the 4 violins, and seems Eddie was at home playing lush keyboards either standing up or sitting down. One reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I only know 4 or 5 of the songs. I should have done my homework and listened to more old Split Enz CD's. Lovely venue!
