Supported by CAT HOUSE – a burlesque-tinged bevy of ukulele ladies with a repertoire of sassy women’s songs featuring great rhythms and sweet harmonies.
On the Turning Away is a song by Pink Floyd, about the social divisiveness of Thatcherism in 1980's England. It has been revisited and recorded by Shaking the Tree choir and presented here as both a protest against current social policy towards asylum seekers in Australia, and an affirmation of our shared humanity and capacity for compassionate action and response.
Great music, great messages in the song and a really good vibe for the entire night. Venue was a bit squashy but the music was worth it.
